Matt Pond PA
This set of photos comes from the roll of film described on the Magnolia Electric Co. post (at this point, I have yet to write that page). There are only a few pictures here, but the roll only had 16 frames and I got 17 out of it. What more do you want. My emo-music era was wide and deep, so I was and am well acquainted with Matt Pond PA, particularly at this time. They would release Several Arrows Later (my favorite of their catalog) a few months later. I was probably introduced to them first on some Polyvinyl Records compilation that arrived Owen's No Good for No One Now (2002). Along with an Airhead candy, which Polyvinyl's mailorder masters still include with orders as of the 25th anniversary reissue of American Football. This was my third consecutive MACRoCk Festival. In 2005 I would've helped out at the Action Driver Recorded Works table. There are some digital photos of this trip somewhere - I remember a photo of a circled blood stain on the Action Driver sign at the merch booth. Not to go on a whole "wow, isn't memory weird" track but I remember the photo of it more than whatever accident transpired to get a drop of whoever's (Mikey Iafrate or Joseph Clagg?) blood onto the 8x11" piece of paper that was the sign. I was there, I took the photo You'd think I'd remember the event, but my memory of it is just the pixelated frame from the digital camera. Matt Pond PA is always great and it was a delight to see his handsome hunk face pop up when I first opened film scans from Nice Film Club, and unravelled the contents of this mystery roll of film. I don't have much recollection of this set other than I think it was in a hotel conference room or ball room. I don't know if there was even a stage? I could be way off.
